Like almost everything else in Rothenburg, this is a little less touristy than you'd expect. Walking the town wall, the outdoor cafes, the beer gardens, even the fact that some of Rothenburg was rebuild after WW 2 bombing can't diminish the incredible charm of the place. You no likey touristy Rothenburg, you too fussy by half. Get right in the center of town and fall in love with Germany. Climb the tower (143 steps, not 215 as advertised) with a Brot & Zeit pretzel. Get your mouth good and dry. Beer time!
This place is amazing! The fresh bread, pastries and coffee are to die for. I could spend 100 years here and eat everything and be fat and happy. Our group sampled the prezels, a baked plum like desert, and a cream cake dessert - all of which were excellent. The espresso and tea were also top notch. The location is very handy in the middle of town and they are open until 6pm. Inside the seating is comfortable, and I think the best seats are towards the front by the big windows, it's a bit cave like in the back.
This place is awesome. The ladies working there were so sweet and spoke English. I had a delicious cappuccino and a wonderful spinach mozzarella croissant. The rest of the pastries looked delicious. My sons had Italian paninis which they loved. We tried the mysterious schneeballs, aka packing peanuts, which I now understand why they have not become a global thing. Overall a fabulous breakfast experience!
