This restaurant is a jewel . Difficult to find, you have to pass through two courtyards to get there . No sign! When you have found it , you are immediately greeted by a lovely staff and you know your evening will be fantastic. The food is delicious , I had for instance an entrecôte to die for , so tender. The wine list is impressive , I had a beautiful German redwine, Schneider Black Print. Who would know that German red wine had such a high quality ?
The locale is big, but the tables and decorations are set up for you to feel at home . Acoustics are great so you can have a conversation without problem . Background music is very discrete. The staff is very attentive , without being servile .
I can highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to have a great evening out in Berlin. Mike and his staff are doing what they can for you to enjoy !
The restaurant is also open for lunch and has a wonderful garden !
Rocks.
A new addition to the Berlin restaurant scene this place mixes stylish yet relaxed ambience, a hip yet friendly team, an interesting concept, and awesome food.
The idea is that most dishes are meant to be shared, and it works well. The food rocks, some of the dishes are almost too good to be true. Try the three cabbages with raspberries to become a believer.
That high level is being reached not just with starters and mains, but also with desserts. Those are not only good but also full of fresh ideas, which sets the place apart from many other restaurants that loose steam towards the finish.
It is worth mentioning that the drinks are on equal level with the food.
We should have much more places like this in Berlin. Or elsewhere for that matter.
Beware: the HeimlichTreu is in a second inner yard (Hinterhof), so you will not see it from the street.
A playful place!
Rather often places that are stylish or appeal to the scene in a city like Berlin sacrifice concept and quality. Not here. It all works out. You have this white brick place in the second inner yard in a house of the Prenzelberg Kiez run by a diverse mix of hip people, and the food is nevertheless gorgeous and the drinks are awesome.
Super sweet stuff, a concept that encourages sharing, attention to detail, and - very rare! - a competent patisserie section. A marvel
