In the town of Veitshoechheim I visited the Ratskeller restaurant with a friend, it seemed the most appealing place to eat after walking around the town centre for awhile. The décor was light, breezy and modern, a large restaurant with plenty of intimate and group seating.
It proved to be a great option as the staff were very welcoming, friendly and spoke English. Although the menu was in German the staff were very patient and went to great lengths to explain all the food options I enquired about. I ordered pork schnitzel with a mushroom sauce and fries. To be honest I apprehensive about the meal but after I arrived it looked the business and tasted amazingly good! The mushroom sauce (with ample mushrooms) was rich, creamy and flavoursome. The schnitzel was crispy on the outside and the meat succulent, tender and juicy on the inside. The fries were also perfectly crispy, needless to say I really enjoyed the meal.
The staff also took the time help us with directions to a shopping village we wanted to visit the next day and were kind enough to print off train/bus times for us. They also recommended we go to cocktail bar in Wurzberg.
I cannot fault this restaurant, the food was amazing, the staff friendly and definitely went out their way to help us and the cost of the meal quite reasonable. 5 star rating!

My friend and I went on holiday to a sleepy village and quickly realised there was no much around to do. This place was one of only a couple of restaurants around and after hearing good things, we were keen to check it out!
What can I say about this place?! Everything was spot on, from decor to food to drinks to the staff. 5 star worthy and definitely somewhere if you are nearby, you must visit for food.
The menu was in German, so my friend and I, neither of us spending the lingo, were clueless as to what to order. Thank god for the staff, speaking English and spending a while explaining the menu. I really appreciated them taking the time and after the meal, they even helped us to work out how to get back from Wurzeburg at night and recommended a cocktail bar. Service you don't get very often!
I went for a local river fish - zanderfillet - wth creamy lentils and a pumpkin and potato ragout and a glass of white wine. Both of which were recommended by the server and were simply divine. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sides really complemented it. It was so good, I never wanted to finish it. The wine was crisp and very pleasant to drink.
My friend got the pork schnitzel with fries and really enjoyed it. She got the Coke and we both left feeling very full and were keen to go back, but sadly we ran out of time on the trip.
It came to around 20 euros each, which for the quality was a steal!!
This is a review of the Ratskeller restaurant that is next to the Kircheplatz in Veitshöchheim.
We had a nice gröstl lunch with salads here. The food was good and the people who worked there were very friendly. Two Gröstl (with salads) meals plus drinks was 24,50 EUR. The inside of the restaurant is very pleasant and they have lots of outdoor seating.
Wir waren aus Anlass eines Schiffausfluges von Würzburg nach Veitshöchheim gekommen und haben, außerhalb des Touistenrummels am Mainufer, ein Restaurant gesucht und kamen so zum Ratskeller. Wir waren 11 Personen und es wurde sofort die erforderliche Anzahl von Tuschen usammen geschoben damit wir an einer Tafel sitzen konnten. Die Tageskarte enthielt preiswerte Tagesgerichte.
