Wonderful Sunday morning "Fruhschoppen" with live musik and traditional dancing. Friendly staff, comfortable "old times" surroundings, excellent food and drinks. During the "Volksmusiktage", make sure to book your Sunday mornings. I can fully recommend this "Wirtshaus".

Expensive but good. It is a very nice spot with space and a very Bavarian vibe. I was surprised when the pork schnitzel was 20€ but it was delicious. They also offer really nice seasonal dishes along with delicious beer.

It's a Munich institution that has been serving guests for two centuries or more. A friend of mine who lives in the area invited me for dinner here. It's a classic Bavarian Wirtshaus with classic interiors, decorative ceilings and lots of wood all around. I loved the ambience here. From the outside it looks quite ordinary but once you step in its a whole other story. It was full by the time 8pm came around. The menu here is classic Bavarian and they have a few vegetarian dishes as well. As they had goose on the menu I decided to have it. Goose is only available for a limited time in Germany and I love it. The roast goose here was great and had lovely flavours and not salty. It came with a nice gravy and red cabbage. Normally it comes with a knödle but I changed it for Bratkartoffeln. The Kaiserschmarrn which is not on the menu is also nice. A bit too dense for my liking but good. Prices are quite reasonable for Munich. Service was super friendly and accommodating. I had one of the best service here with a smile. Perhaps it was this particular waitress but I was very impressed. I would gladly come here again. Booking is necessary in the evening. A gorgeous Bavarian Wirtshaus that has good food and reasonable prices.

I put this on my list of MUST VISITS for Munich, Germany. The décor, the food, the long shared tables, and the animal heads on the walls make this place which seems 400 years old one of the best places to experience traditional Bavarian cuisine as well as an all around fun place to down a few beers and eat some amazing food under the gaze of reindeer heads. Enter hungry, and leave in a food coma.

Just out of the city center, a few minutes walk from gärtnerplatz, and viktualienmarkt this Bavarian restaurant is "lecker". The food is always good and really really tasty, seriously, very good local kitchen with proper german sizes dishes. The menu is not always in english available but is really simple. I do love the pork knee and the schweinebratten there. Really really nice. The only minus about this is the fact you cannot pay with EC or other form of credit cards. The rest of it, just o'zapft.. Prost

I think sometimes Bavarian food has a bad reputation. I frequently hear people say "ohhh but it's so heavy!' or "I'll gain 10 kilo if I eat that stuff all time!" I hereby request that we slap all of those people and then drag them to Fraunhofer....because they've clearly never been to this little bit of heaven tucked conveniently between the popular Glockenbach, Sendlinger Tor, and Gärtnerplatz areas. I LOVED the Bavarian, rustic cabin, classic bierhall feel that Fraunhofer has perfected. The obazda was plentiful and the maßbiers were flowing free. Speaking of the obazda, it is seriously embarassing how fast my friend and I ate it. It was like we were wild dogs or as if we thought the other person would eat it all before we could get the next bite. GANZ GANZ LECKER! I mean really there is nothing I can say about this place or the food that hasn't already been said. It's great for that bit of nostalgia and gemütlichkeit. Also, they have a small theatre where shows take place! I'm super excited to go see that soon :) I only docked a star because our server seemed like she was half asleep and when we asked a different server for help he was a bit rude. Can't wait to bring some of my friends here! : )

Hungry and in dire need of a stiff drink, we stumbled into Fraunhofer in search of some hearty German fare. POLO! Skipping the flowery language (the venue really doesn't call for it) I'll simply leave you with a stream of consciousness chain of unfolding events: -Rustic wooden tables -Mounted reindeer heads (uncomfortably reminiscent of The Gump) proudly monitoring diners' progress -Strong German beer -Stronger German women -Menu items that literally translated to things like 'Herring fillet "housewife" with boiled potatoes' and 'home-made jellied meat with rémoulade and fried potatoes) -Bread, cheese, potatoes, potato dumplings, pretzels, spaetzle -Meat, meat, meat... and then some more meat -Beer -Bread -Beer -Obligatory belt loop loosening This is the best wirtshaus ever.

Traditional Bavarian menu, all quite authentic - better than homemade flavors. The roast pork with a savory crisped edge was mouthwatering. Served with tasty cabbage salad and dumpling. The bratwurst and sauerkraut very good. Table neighbors asked how we found this local favorite (Lonely Planet guidebook with Yelp verification). Super chilled beer, friendly proprietor.

Very old school place, can be very busy. Traditional Bavarian menu, food is fine but not the best in town. Big portions! Beer is very tasty and from the tab. They only accept cash.

Da sitzt man gerne

Sehr guten Schweinsbraten gegessen.
